Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Comment 2 Stephen Wadeley 2016-07-29 11:00:11 UTC
Hello Andy

Could you explain a bit more? Are there any repos that you think might show up that are not wanted or should be changed?

If we say just "subscription-manager repos --list-enabled" *before** the step to disable the old repos then the repos for the base system will show up, and that might confuse the issue as this procedure is just about Upgrading Satellite Server, not the base system.

If we say just "subscription-manager repos --list-enabled" *after* the step to disable the old repos and then say "If required, to confirm the Satellite repositores are now disabled, enter "subscription-manager repos --list-enabled" then that seems safe enough.

Take a look at this preview and let me know what you think:
http://file.brq.redhat.com/~swadeley/Sat6-Docs/Installation_Guide/html-single/installation-guide.html#upgrading_satellite_server

Steps 8 and 9 currently.

Thank you

Comment 3 Andy MacMurray 2016-07-29 11:31:43 UTC
Hello Stephen,

My original recommendation was simply to help identify the repos that were currently enable so we know which rpms to disable. At the time we started our upgrade, the document specified rhel-server-6-satellite-6-beta-rpms, which we did not have on our instance, so if we simply ran the command to disable them, it would have failed. We were required to use list-enabled to identify what we have in place.

If we are confident that the customer will always have a rhel-n-server-satellite-6.1-rpms present, I think what you have in the preview that you provided is probably sufficient.

Thanks!
- Andy

We do mention that as a prerequisite:

Before You Begin

You should have upgraded to the latest minor release of Red Hat Satellite Server 6.1. Direct upgrade from earlier minor versions is not supported.

I will go ahead with change as per comment 2

Thank you
