Description Jaspreet Kaur 2016-07-29 11:17:13 UTC
3. What is the nature and description of the request?
We want overlayfs support in Openshift, because the current devicemapper implementations is slow.

4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
Builds in Openshift a really, really slow, even with RAMDisk as Storage Backend.

5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
* Enable overlayfs as Storage-Backend in Docker
* SELinux is not an requirement for Builds

6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.
* docker info -> Storage Driver: overlay

Comment 6 Eric Rich 2016-08-30 18:13:28 UTC
As RHEL provide support for the OverlayFS docker graph driver, it is by inheritance that OverlayFS is supported in OpenShift today.

That said, to use OverlayFS an OpenShift Admin has to manual configuration it for use on OpenShift as our installer does not provide a docker-storage-setup option for you.

It should be noted that for any customer to get "full support" for OverlayFS with OpenShift the following restrictions need to be met.

> Full support is available for OverlayFS when used with Docker under the following restrictions:
> ...
Please see: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/7/html/7.2_Release_Notes/technology-preview-file_systems.html for the full list of restrictions.
