Description of problem: On Aug 3rd I did a Netinstall, specifying the Xfce desktop environment. This was a clean install to a new HD on a Lenovo x120e. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): /root/anaconda-ks.cfg reports: %packages @^xfce-desktop-environment @admin-tools @libreoffice @office @sound-and-video @system-tools @xfce-apps @xfce-extra-plugins @xfce-media chrony How reproducible: Only did the one install. Took me time till I realized that this was not a new look from Xfce (current notebook is F22 with Xfce). Steps to Reproduce: 1. Netinstall, selecting above packages. 2. 3. Actual results: It is clear from various dialogs and lack of a familiar look that I am seeing cinnamon, not xfce Expected results: Have xfce desktop Additional info:
This is really just another case of bug 1349743 So, I guess I can move it to dnf as well.
Nemo comes up as the file manager, rather than Thundar. It is constantly crashing. Crashing can occur from removing unmounted USB drives or trying to drag files to a USB drive. So I hope this is fixed soon.
The Xfce filemanager is "Thunar" :) Anyhow, can you try doing: sudo dnf group install xfce-desktop and see what that pulls in?

So it seems to have pulled in a lot without downloading or installing anything? Going to reboot now and see what comes up.
The login in screen LOOKed like Xfce, but once logged in, I am seeing Cinnamon and Nemo and the like...
What display manager do you see? lightdm or gdm? In either case after choosing your username, look for a small gear icon or a upper right menu that lets you choose your session. Make sure that has Xfce selected and then enter your password and hit return.
I was going to ask you what lightdm or gdm were... I logged out and looked for anything that would let me choose the desktop environment. Finally found a button that let me choose rom: Cinnamon Cinnamon (with software rendering) , or some such Xfce I chose Xfce and got the Xfce desktop. With an SElinux alert. I went to look at the details and am told that lightdm attempted a write on fime session-errors. In fact this is one of 5 errors since install and they all seem to be around logging in. So I can at least start working with this new F24 system without also needing to learn an new environment. But the bug is still basically there...

Please look at Adam's comment 22 on bug 1349743. He specifically instructed opening separate bugs for another desktop. I was just following his direction. I understand that now it is seeing all this tied to one problem. But still, I only did as requested and not add Xfce issues into what was filed as an XDE bug. To that, I will follow progress on 1349743.
