Description of problem: vdsm violates FHS with /rhev and there's no documented FESCo exception for this. Please migrate to an FHS-compliant path or request an exemption from FESCo for it.
Correct, this should move to /var/run and its in our todo. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 1260743 ***
This bug should not be closed, it's not an RFE in Fedora, it's a violation of the FPG.
FESCo discussed this during the last meeting and we request that vdsm be untagged from all branches and a re-review performed. The FHS violation must be corrected before it will be permitted back into Fedora: https://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting/2016-09-02/fesco.2016-09-02-16.11.log.html#l-414
(In reply to Yaniv Bronhaim from comment #1) > Correct, this should move to /var/run and its in our todo. Is there a timeframe for this?
This depends on the upstream bug 1260743.
We can solve it for Fedora, but remember that there would be no live-migration between a Fedora-koji-built Vdsm to an ovirt-built Vdsm. The fix https://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/67248/ is merged and would be available in ovirt-4.1 (f25 timeframe)
This message is a reminder that Fedora 24 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 2 (two) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 24. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '24'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 24 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
