Description of problem: As title saed: before update setting wass O.K. After update setting not unaccessable at all even from terminal !! I post about this in Fedora forums: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=311241 Here is the core: 1) I installed GNOME package updater & try to update Fedora by it. It show me 533 update package. It was very slow while internet was fast ! Total size of update was more that 600 MB (I think 621 MB). So, I close it & try to install update from terminal by: sudo dnf upgrade It show me also 533 update package to be downloaded & installed. Total size same as above no difference. I give "y" (Yes) & every thing go straight forward & download with subsequent installation completed over just 17 minutes without any error message. After installation completed, system log out, then I log in O.K I restart laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad e550). Then I use: sudo dnf autoremove to remove unused packages. It show me 16 packages to be removed (please look for screenshot which show them). I agreed & it erased them. Then I run: sudo dnf clean all It remove 533 (I think they are related to update packages download traces) Now I can not enter to GNOME setting. When I click over "Setting" from any where Applications menu, or from desktop after press on activities, then just sign that indicate system try to do something & inform user to wait appear for about 30 seconds then process failed & setting not opened !! I tried to enter to GNOME setting from software center & click on "launch" that exist in it's field but I get same failure. 2) I re-format laptop & re-install Fedora as complete clean installation. No problem after installation, setting of GNOME is O.K But take this: I did not install or modify any thing, & saied to my self let upgrade 1st: sudo dnf upgrade after upgrade (which involve about 543) & log in then power off laptop, waiting for 3 minutes then power on. It is horable !! Same bug return & I'm now unable to enter setting !! I did not perform autoremove or even clean all !! Update itself lead to bug ! During installation & select check media then start Fedora & there was no error massage during checking !! This is very painful !! I read in internet that Fedora buggy & experimental but not to such degree ! What I have to do now ? New re-installation ? No ! Fedora upgrade team need to give new upgrade containing patch to resolve this bug. Otherwise & will install other distro. 3) If this fetal bug caused by update, then there must be other peoples suffered & suffering from it. I'm suspecious that till now no other member in this kind forum confirm it. So, let to give all steps that I used in installation to discover a possible error from my side: 1) I download Fedora 24 X 64 GNOME live copy from official side. 2) I download Fedora using windows 7 X 64 OS 3) I download image by Free download manager which is open source & stable downloader for windows http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/ 4) download was at early morning about 5 or 6 A.M when most users of internet in Iraq were sleeping &, thus, download speed 1.5 - 2 mb/s 5) after download completed, I check integrity of image (SHA 250) using zipware which is free very strong archive program for windows that has tools for various check sum types: http://www.zipware.org/ Checking was O.K 6) Windows OS was & still guarded by COMODO internet security 7) I used Burnaware program (free edition) to burn image on a 4.7 GB DVD princo (available in Iraqi market that import from China ..... ) http://www.burnaware.com/ So, burner is legal copy not cracked. Cracked programs cause many errors .... 8) During burning process, I select slowest speed & select "verify data on disk after burning" 9) only when burn process completed + data varification is fully O.K, then I considered DVD valied. 10) During installation, I select "Test media then start Fedora" 11) "Test media" show no any error. 12) after that appear massages on screen like does all saed O.K, O.K, O.K, ....... Only 3 massage saed: "Time out ................" (which should be cusmatic bugs like that appearing when boot a live usb OS, but instalation proceeded & GUI loaded. 13) During installation every thing proceeded O.K & very smoth 14) Installation also at 6 A.M when internet speed fast. 15) 1st launching of system after boot, show no problem. 16) using of Fedora before update was normal apart from: - slow download when I installed from within software center THOUGH installation by terminal for same package was very fast. So, where the mistak in my actions ?? Why no other member confirm this bug till now in this forum. What it could be? I love Fedora in unexpected manner !! It make may laptop working very fine. Even camera working! All functional keys working! Only other distro reach in near are Debian GNOME & Linux Mint Cinnamon version 18 (Shara). Debian stable of old packages & bluetooth not working at all, while on Fedora bluetooth working half: send from laptop to other device O.K but recieving from other devices not possible (& this problem not only in Fedora & it will fixed). Linux Mint is a security nightmare on in fact night turor (I mean very bad dreem: forgive me for error in language). By default Fedora much more secure than Debian. It is great loss if this issue remain unsolving. Please your kind help. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora 24 X 64 GNOME workstation edition How reproducible: By update system Steps to Reproduce: 1. sudo dnf upgrade 2. 3. Actual results: GNOME setting not accessable even from terminal Expected results: Setting of GNOME opened normaly & user can modify resolution, sound, mouse, keyboard, bluetooth ....... . Hi. This bug is already confirmed on Fedora forum in thread that I gave linke to it in my 1st post. There are 2 other users suffer from it & gave information that they resolve it by: sudo dnf reinstall libwbclient This is what given from "Rob Nobel" from Serbia & "s4vio" from Brazil. Look for comment 17 & 19 in 2nd page of thread respectively: http://www.forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=311241&page=2 Bellow is copy of their comments: ------------------------------- Rob Nobel: Hi, I had same issue, it was fixed using reinstall of libwbclient : sudo dnf reinstall libwbclient ------------------------------- s4vio: Hi, I had the same problem here. Fixed with sudo "dnf reinstall libwbclient". My notebook is an Asus N43SM. I just installed a new Fedora 24 and after an update gnome settings didn't start anymore. So, I believe many other people may suffer with this issue too. Just reinstall libwbclient as suggested by Rob Nobel. ----------------------------- I did not try this solution because I'm already format my laptop & installed Fedora 24 X64 bit cinnamon edition which never suffered from such issue. It seem that this bug effecting certain laptops only. But not limited to single model. My laptop is Lenova ThinkPad e550 while laptop of "s4vio" is asus N43SM Please you kind care about this issue.
