The 1.4 update doesn't have any changes that warrant an update, IMO. Here is the ChangeLog: > 2016-09-05 David Shaw <dshaw> > > * NEWS, configure: Preparing 1.4 release. > > * NEWS, output.h, output.c, paperkey.c (set_binary_mode): Fix > binary vs text output mismatch when using "--output-type raw" on > Windows platforms. Does not affect any non-Windows platforms. > Found by Thierry Ambrus. > > * README: Clarify output-width a bit. > > * paperkey.spec.in: Use %license for the COPYING file and run the > self checks during build. > > 2016-09-04 David Shaw <dshaw> > > * README: PowerPC Macs are basically gone, so remove the OSX > (sorry: macOS!) universal binary stuff. Other than the small change to the README file, the changes aren't applicable.

Why was this update needed at all, let alone for EPEL releases back to EL5? That seems like a waste of resources and needless churn. The only change in the packages is an extra sentence in the README file. At most, I could see building this for rawhide (which I did locally last night while reading the changelog and determining that an update was pointless). As a user or Fedora and EPEL I don't think updates just to increase the version number are useful. As a sysadmin and contributor, I think they waste valuable resources.
Sorry, I missed your comment #4. I agree on the fact that this update does not bring huge changes but it's also true that does not bring uncompatible-changes. The reason why I updated it is for the absence of uncompatible changes. Probably we have moved from two different positions (update when need, update if it does not break anything) and for this reason we reached different conclusions. As said, I'm again sorry for having missed your comment. In case I would have read it, I would have commented here before actually pushing updates and we would have compared our POV without packages already pushed.
