Description steve chung 2004-11-03 00:18:37 UTC
attempting to install oracle 10g/RAC via oracle universal installer
produces kernel panic with the 2.4.21-20.ELhugemem kernel. we've
managed to complete 1 installation tho with the 2.4.21-20.ELsmp kernel.

interestingly, oracle universal installer DID NOT produce hugemem
kernel panics while installing Cluster Ready Services, only during the
10g/RAC install. i did manage to produce a kernel panic running
bonnie++ too [it's in the panic log below] although running iozone did
not produce any panics.

we also have a TAR open with oracle regarding this situation.
plz lemme know if i should provide any other data.

Can you try to reproduce this problem on the latest RHEL3-U6 beta kernel and let
me know how it goes?

Thanks, Larry Woodman
