Description of problem: After upgrading to F25 Beta, the logs on my ThinkPad X1 Yoga are getting flooded with the message: "cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 11 may have been dropped" The first error is for kevent 12, subsequent errors are all kevent 11. The only recourse is to unload the module, and blacklist it. Started seeing what I assume to be the same issue from cdc_ether on F24 after updating to the 4.8.4 and 4.8.6 kernel. No such issues when booting with 4.7.9. Did not notice this for a while because network was still working, it's just dmesg getting flooded. This on a Lenovo X1 Carbon 3rd gen using a OneLink Pro dock (Ethernet over USB). My current workaround is blacklisting cdc_ether in /etc/modprobe.d, which causes r8152 to be used instead. I had been doing it the other way around for some time (i.e. blacklisting r8152) due to losing connectivity when redocking, if both modules were loaded. Don't recall the details anymore, but some issue with "link is not ready". $ uname -a Linux audroe 4.8.6-201.fc24.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Nov 3 14:38:57 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ modprobe.d# lsusb Bus 001 Device 002: ID 8087:8001 Intel Corp. recovering from it's recent bork and I don't use NNTP for anything so frankly don't want to install stuff just to post this. Could the kernel maintainer upstream this to the correct location as it's not just a Lenovo issue.

For me, this problem seems fixed after updating to kernel 4.8.14-300.fc25.x86_64.
I don't see the kevent 11 messages any longer with 4.8.14-300, but do still get the occasional kevent 12. Here is my log since last booting on the 19th; [robert@x1yoga ~]$ journalctl -b|grep kevent Dec 19 18:07:55 x1yoga kernel: hpet clockevent registered Dec 19 17:08:02 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped Dec 19 17:08:02 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped Dec 20 08:03:24 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped Dec 20 08:03:24 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped Dec 20 08:03:24 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped Dec 20 08:03:24 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped Dec 20 21:47:05 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped Dec 20 21:47:05 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped Dec 20 21:47:05 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped Dec 21 13:43:43 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped Dec 21 13:43:43 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped Dec 22 08:14:04 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped Dec 22 08:14:04 x1yoga kernel: cdc_ether 2-4.1.3:2.0 eth0: kevent 12 may have been dropped I suspect these may have been the times I attached the Yoga to the Dock.
*********** MASS BUG UPDATE ************** We apologize for the inconvenience. There is a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 25 kernel bugs. Fedora 25 has now been rebased to 4.9.3-200.fc25. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel. If you have moved on to Fedora 26, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 26. If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those.
Closing this bug report as I no longer get the flood of kevent 11 messages.
