Description of problem: Over the last 2 months the transparency of Xfce4-terminal has not been working any more on my Fedora 24 install. This does not seem to be related to Wayland & co as it is reproducible for me on both standard sessions and Wayland sessions. In the Preferences->Appearance menu switching the 'Background' setting to 'Transparent Background' does not change anything on the appearance of the terminal window. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xfce4-terminal.x86_64 0.6.92-1.fc24 How reproducible: First observed on my usual install. Since then I had to go through a full clean reinstall and the problem did not disappear. Alternative: Building the xfce4-terminal application from source (https://code.launchpad.net/xfce4-terminal - master branch) does provide a terminal supporting transparency. I was not able to determine if this is an issue which will be resolved in the next release. I am available to provide any kind of trace or system info if necessary.
Upstream is planning a new release next week, so I think I will wait for that as it has a number of additional bugfixes over the transparency handling. Will let you know when it lands to test out... thanks for the report.
Great! In the mean time I'm just running the custom build I did myself. Will test it out as soon as you notify me about the update.

The new version solves the transparency. Works like a charm. Thanks for the quick replies! Am very happy to be able to use my favourite terminal again without the need to resort to a custom build.
