Description of problem: Clicking on the "Print this document" icon in the evolution File/Preview... menu performs the printing immediately. If a previous print was to a pdf file, then that file is now overwritten without warning and the previous print is thus lost. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Name : evolution Version : 3.20.5 Release : 1.fc24 Architecture: x86_64 Install Date: Thu Aug 11 21:01:35 2016 Group : Applications/Productivity Size : 45081780 License : GPLv2+ and GFDL Signature : RSA/SHA256, Mon Aug 8 17:52:51 2016, Key ID 73bde98381b46521 Source RPM : evolution-3.20.5-1.fc24.src.rpm Build Date : Mon Aug 8 14:09:39 2016 Build Host : buildvm-25.phx2.fedoraproject.org Relocations : (not relocatable) Packager : Fedora Project Vendor : Fedora Project URL : https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Evolution Summary : Mail and calendar client for GNOME Description : Evolution is the GNOME mailer, calendar, contact manager and communications tool. The components which make up Evolution are tightly integrated with one another and act as a seamless personal information-management tool. How reproducible: Always. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Evolution File/Print..., then select "Print to file" and set the PDF file name, then press Print. Now you have a printout of your mail. 2. Next take another mail, File/Preview... (I, specifically, used Edit as new message.../File/Print Preview, but it doesn't make any difference, Preview is the point here). 3. Press the "Print this document" icon in the Preview toolbar. The preview window just disappears, and that's all you have here. Actual results: Check your pdf file from step 1. The original content is lost, it has been replaced by the mail from step 2. Expected results: I would expect at least a warning before my first mail printout file is overwritten. Perhaps the best would be to bring up the normal print dialog when the "Print this document" icon is clicked on in the preview window. Additional info: This one is a real nuisance.
Thanks for a bug report. This is completely out of hands of the evolution, I can reproduce it also under gtk3-demo->Printing->Printing demo, thus I move this into the gtk3 instead.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 24 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 2 (two) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 24. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '24'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 24 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 24 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-08-08. Fedora 24 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
