This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description of problem:

the gam_server process is crashing intermittently with a segfault, leaving this in the logs

At the same time the message "end from FAM server connection" is printed in open console windows.

How reproducible:

Happens for all Gnome users. Log into Gnome desktop and monitor logs.
KDE users do not seem to have this happening.

Actual results:
gam_server process segfaults and re-spawns

Expected results:
Have no segfaults occurring


Additional info:

We have a NFS/NIS environment were the users home directories are NFS automounted, in case it has anything to do with that.
