Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Ademar Reis 2016-11-01 18:53:28 UTC
We need a new power machine-type for RHEL-7.4: pseries-rhel7.4.0

Comment 2 Laurent Vivier 2016-11-29 20:18:33 UTC
A prerequisite of the machine-type is the backport of the following patch otherwise pseries-7.3.0 is broken:

16a2497 target-ppc: Fix CPU migration from qemu-2.6 <-> later versions
[from ppc-for-2.8 branch]

Comment 3 Miroslav Rezanina 2017-01-16 12:16:28 UTC
Fix included in qemu-kvm-rhev-2.8.0-2.el7

Comment 5 Qunfang Zhang 2017-04-28 03:18:32 UTC
Verified the pseries-rhel7.4.0 machine type is already added and currently we are executing functional test for all the kvm features with pseries-rhel7.4.0 machine type except forward/backward migration (which requires older machine types). So, I'll verity the bug.

# rpm -q qemu-kvm-rhev
qemu-kvm-rhev-2.9.0-1.el7.ppc64le

# /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm -M ?
Supported machines are:
none empty machine
pseries-rhel7.2.0 pSeries Logical Partition (PAPR compliant)
pseries-rhel7.3.0 pSeries Logical Partition (PAPR compliant)
pseries pSeries Logical Partition (PAPR compliant) (alias of pseries-rhel7.4.0)
pseries-rhel7.4.0 pSeries Logical Partition (PAPR compliant) (default)

# /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm -M pseries-rhel7.4.0
VNC server running on ::1:5900
