This is the upstream GNOME designed spinner: https://wiki.gnome.org/Design/OS/Boot It does not contain branding, which was agreed to be ineffective for advertising Fedora in a recent fedora-desktop@ thread. Look for "Monday, 7 November" in: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/desktop@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/35ASBMRYVBO6PZLXE2I44WD4JTYK6VFT/

Please don't implement this change without a greater plan.

Let's call it a "miscommunication"... certainly we do not have consensus on this yet, except that it seems nobody very much likes the current bootsplash. I kinda think we should switch to the upstream theme in rawhide and just wait and see if a better Fedora theme comes along before F26. The disadvantage of that is if a better theme comes around in F27, then we look unprofessional for changing the bootsplash from one release to the next, but that doesn't seem like the most likely scenario. I don't think it's particularly important whether we use the upstream bootsplash or a Fedora-branded one, as long as it looks good. I do suggest that any Fedora theme try to work with the gray noise background, though. The upstream designs call for that background from the GRUB theme all the way to the login screen, and I suspect we can work a Fedora logo into it without disrupting that.
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 26 development cycle. Changing version to '26'.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 26 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 26. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '26'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 26 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

As part of: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/FlickerFreeBoot A new plymouth theme, based on the spinner theme, see: https://wiki.gnome.org/Design/OS/BootProgress Has landed and been made the default in rawhide/F30, starting with plymouth-0.9.4-3.fc30, so this bug can be closed.
