Do I get it right that you're referring to https://dellservervr.dell.com/poweredge-fx2-enclosure/? Is there anything special about it that makes you think the current pxe_drac won't work with it?

Comment 2 arkady kanevsky 2016-11-18 14:55:45 UTC
Dmitry, correct, on FX2 enclosure. Simple answer, we do not know.
We agree to create BZ for visibility, we will do investigation and will update BZ. Not asking for any help yet.
Need to ensure that
* FX2 enclosure can be configured
* FC630s across different enclosures can be configured as compute, controllers, and Ceph storage
* FD332 can be configured as part of Ceph setup

Any updates on this ?

Please let me know if I got the state right. Thanks.

I would like to separate RH Ironic certification for idrac and/or ipmi drivers on FX2 chassis and its sleds FC630 and FD332 from
using Ironic for FX2 chassis and sleds configuration for JS.
This BZ is for Ironic iDRAC driver support for sleds first, then for chassis.

FX2 sleds are part of DellEMC Ironic distributed CI and it passes for both ipmi and idrac drivers.

What is Ironic driver certification?
OSP10 announcement states that Dell servers are certified!
"	A new hardware certification program, based on the OpenStack Ironic project. While Red Hat already supports several certified hardware plug-ins specified for certain components of OpenStack, including Block Storage (Cinder), Neutron, Nova and Sahara, the new program is designed to help drive an even more robust ecosystem of hardware options for Red Hat customers. Dell EMC will be the first Red Hat partner to be certified for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10."

But looking at documentation
https://access.redhat.com/articles/1535373#Ironic
none of Ironic drivers for any servers are certified.

Sean M. recommend we clone this BZ for Ironic certification for OSP10 and if needed for OSP11 and 12.

No idea why it ON_QA considering that dev work is not done yet.

Comment 6 Dmitry Tantsur 2017-02-07 11:15:48 UTC
Could you please specify the exact dev work required, keeping in mind that Ironic drivers do not have support for chassis directly?

CC'ing Ruchika who is going the certification work.

Unassigning myself, because I'm leaving.

Comment 8 arkady kanevsky 2017-07-03 19:13:47 UTC
Dmitry, sorry for missing it.
Passing button to Richard.
I am not sure what work need to be done. That is the first step.

Not aware of any certification work since FX2 is already certified for RHEL and RHV, and Ceph does not have HW certification.

Comment 9 Sean Merrow 2017-08-15 15:42:59 UTC
Moving to OSP 13 trackers

Comment 10 Dmitry Tantsur 2017-10-23 09:07:13 UTC
i all!

I see FX2 jobs successfully running on ironic upstream in the 3rdparty CI, so I assume that FX2 hardware is working. Marking this as MODIFIED and TestOnly.

Comment 11 arkady kanevsky 2017-10-23 13:38:35 UTC
Correct. Ironic CI is running on FX2. However it only covers some functionality that is needed. It does cover power management and discovery.
But I think more work will be needed for BIOS, RAID, PXE and other setting thru Ironic.

Comment 16 Chris Dearborn 2018-08-16 15:29:32 UTC
Support for FX2 is no longer a requirement.
