Description surabhi 2016-11-28 12:25:49 UTC
Description of problem:

In case of ganesha or corosync crash , there is no core dump generated and it fails with following error :

Nov 28 16:51:30 dhcp47-147 abrt-hook-ccpp: /var/spool/abrt is 2546759006 bytes (more than 1279MiB), deleting 'ccpp-2016-11-28-15:58:27-23087'
Nov 28 16:51:30 dhcp47-147 systemd: nfs-ganesha.service: main process exited, code=dumped, status=11/SEGV
Nov 28 16:51:30 dhcp47-147 systemd: Unit nfs-ganesha.service entered failed state.
Nov 28 16:51:30 dhcp47-147 systemd: nfs-ganesha.service failed.
Nov 28 16:51:30 dhcp47-147 abrt-server: Package 'nfs-ganesha' isn't signed with proper key
Nov 28 16:51:30 dhcp47-147 abrt-server: 'post-create' on '/var/spool/abrt/ccpp-2016-11-28-16:51:24-3738' exited with 1
Nov 28 16:51:30 dhcp47-147 abrt-server: Deleting problem directory '/var/spool/abrt/ccpp-2016-11-28-16:51:24-3738'

Tried the similar test to generate cores for glusterd and it is getting generated in /

But for ganesha, corosync it looks like it tries to dump the core in systemd's default location and it is not able to.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
nfs-ganesha-2.4.1-1.el7rhgs.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Kill a process to dump core (kill -SIGSEGV pid)
2.Check the core file in both / and systemd location (/var/spool/abrt)

Actual results:
The core file doesn't get generated at all for ganesha and corosync process in both the locations above and there are error messages.

Expected results:
Core should get generated and there should not be such error.

Need to provide this kbase article link in installation guide.
As it tells about options to be set for getting core dumps, need to decide on the section where it has to be documented.
Will update soon.

Following kbase article link needs to be provided:

https://access.redhat.com/solutions/168603
https://access.redhat.com/solutions/2486831

Section I am not sure may be a question for soumya/Alok/Rejy?

Thanks.

Discussed this with Rejy and Soumya. As there is already a K-base article available from RHEL on how to get core dumps generated and at the right location we may not want to add it to the admin guide.
So closing this BUG.

The k-base article are as follows:

https://access.redhat.com/solutions/168603
https://access.redhat.com/solutions/2486831
