Description of problem: I opened Texmaker and attempted to open a file from the software, and it crashed. To reproduce the error, open up Texmaker, and then try to open a file from the software. It'll do it again! That's weird .. I have been trying to recreate this for the last 15 min with little success. I have created new files, opened old ones, made \blindtext files, nothing ... :( Have you been unable to open files using texmaker at all? Does it crash everytime?
Hi! I encountered the exact same bug after upgrading to Fedora 25. After a quick google research I was able to find a workaround by opening Texmaker from the command line with GDK_BACKEND=x11 texmaker
aha! Wayland vs X11! Thanks Umberto.
Yes. I see. I did the command Umberto suggested and works like a charm. It turns out that when I upgraded, qgnomeplatform was not installed during the upgrade. So typing in ...]$ sudo dnf install qgnomeplatform fixes my problem. I'm sure that this will be the case in most instances, especially if one upgrades from an earlier version of Fedora. Thank you for all your help!
Thanks! I did the same and now it is working perfectly.
