Description of problem: Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. "dnf update" Fedora in France (near Paris). Actual results: Very slow update, download at 600Kb/s at best, most of the time a lot less (like 100Kb/s or even 50Kb/s). Tested at several locations in France (always near Paris I must admit). The connection established always select the mirror "distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr". Expected results: Does not always use "distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr", other mirrors are faster. Possibly demote "distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr" from its first selected mirror somehow. Additional info: It's not a new issue, for as long as I remember (I use Fedora since Fedora 13 I think), the automatically selected mirror was always slow. The first thing I do when I install Fedora is to change the mirror by setting the baseurl parameter in "/etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repo" and "/etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-updates.repo" to a static mirror (fedora.mirrors.ovh.net works great, or mirrorservice.org which is super fast too). When the mirror is changed, the download speed jumps to the maximum speed of the line. Not sure how to fix that, but it is a very poor experience for new users who don't know that they have to switch the mirror immediately, for them Fedora updates are just awfully slow.
I just tested it from different locations and the mirror is indeed slow sometimes. The bandwidth I get is not very constant I see everything between 500KByte/s to 5MByte/s. The experience is not as bad as initially reported. I will decrease the mirrors rating and I will try to contact the mirror admin to see if they know about it. Thanks for your report.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '25'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 25 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Receiving the End of Life e-mail reminded me of this issue. This mirror is still an issue. At my company network, I have blocked it on our firewalls to avoid it (we have ~10 Fedora Workstation and it was really painful to see some switch to Ubuntu just to avoid this mirror). Did you have any chance to ask the admin mirror? We are talking about an issue that is several years old.

Fedora 26 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2018-05-29. Fedora 26 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
