Description Lucy Bopf 2017-01-11 02:06:05 UTC
The installation and configuration steps for a self-hosted installation of RHV 4.1 (Beta) must be tested, reviewed, and updated.

In particular, the output of hosted-engine --deploy should be updated as necessary.

Assigning to Byron for review.

Hi Simone,

Could you please review the updated documentation (2.1. Deploying Self-Hosted Engine on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Hosts instructions), or pass this to the appropriate person?

I updated the Self-hosted engine instructions with the latest "hosted-engine --deploy" output.
I was unable to complete the installation due to an error during the "Running engine-setup on the appliance" phase.

I've been unable to confirm the output for the following steps, so could you please confirm that the documentation is still accurate:
- The gluster and iSCSI instructions in "3. Configuring Storage"
- "8. Creating the Manager Virtual Machine"

Kind regards,

Done, I added a few minor comments.
Maybe it's worth to update section 2.2 at the same time since they are really close.

Could you please provide more details? maybe it could also affect real users.

Yes, they are.

Thanks for this Simone,

I managed to install the hosted-engine today via "hosted-engine --deploy" and cockpit. I used the latest rhev package that was made available yesterday (rhv-release-4.1.0-11-001.noarch.rpm). So the issue may have been with the rhv-release-4.1.0-8-001.noarch.rpm package.

I'll implement your suggestions and update 2.2. I will probably require another review afterwards because I'll need to add instructions for installing hosted engine on rhel host using cockpit (or at least, just instructions to install and run cockpit).

Regards,
