Description of problem: For current Fedora 26 (rawhide), switching to a virtual console freezes the graphical login screen on a Lenovo T400 with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 (RV620) video device. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kernel-4.10.0-0.rc5.git0.1.fc26 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot system with current Fedora 26 (rawhide). 2. Switch from graphical login screen to a virtual console. Actual results: The switch is not carried out, and the graphical login screen is frozen: the clock does not advance any longer, and no response to keyboard or mouse input is observed. Expected results: System switches to the selected virtual console. Additional info: Current Fedora 25 behaves absolutely normal in this respect.
While testing for #1417454 I stumbled over the same issue. I used a Fedora 25 with a RawhideKernelNodebug kernel [1,2] on a desktop system. I have a Radeon GPU, too [3]. The behaviour can be observed if switching to a virtual console, regardless if done from the login screen or from the desktop environment after login. If switching back to X (I'm using XFCE) everything is normal again. 1. Issue is still present for kernel-4.11.0-0.rc2.git0.2.fc26. 2. Issue is absent for Intel GMA 950 chipset graphics.
After upgrading to kernel series 4.10.x in Fedora 25, now the latter is affected by this issue, see bug 1438215.
With kernel 4.13.5-200.fc26.x86_64 I do run into this issue. I've got the impression, that the bug was solved for some time and came back with one of the more recent upgrades.
