Description Edward Haas 2017-02-16 16:27:49 UTC
Overview:

VDSM has two persistence modes for networks: unified and ifcfg.
The unified mode has been the default mode since v3.3 and is not covered by tests or accountant for when adding new capabilities.

We need to declare its deprecation formally and assure the upgrade path is working properly.

Customers have tweaked ifcfg files with the ifcfg mode, which may not be supported upon the upgrade. This needs to be highlighted to warn customers when performing the upgrade.

This is the relevant content from vdsm.conf:

# Whether to use "ifcfg" or "unified" persistence for networks.
# net_persistence = unified

Comment 1 Dan Kenigsberg 2017-02-16 16:53:31 UTC
Correction: net_persistence default is unified since rhv-3.5.

Comment 2 Lucy Bopf 2017-03-30 01:41:39 UTC
I think this is covered by bug 1429809. Closing as duplicate.
