Description Al-Scandar Solstag 2017-02-23 23:04:29 UTC
Description of problem:
Evince doesn't open nor thumbnails CBR files (Comic Book RAR archives), even though archive manager opens them.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.22.1

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. ask evince to open a CBR file
2. it won't, complaining the format is not supported

Actual results:
Can't open, no thumbnails.

Expected results:
Opens, with thumbnails in nautilus.

Additional info:
I'm only opening this bug because archive manager simply opens these files if you rename them as 'rar', even in a clean installation (so no additional software or library was needed for that), so I see no reason why evince shouldn't.

Comment 1 David Tardon 2017-02-24 08:49:47 UTC
Install rpmfusion-nonfree repo from https://rpmfusion.org/ , then install unrar. After that, evince will open your CBR files. It would be nicer if it could use libarchive, like the archive manager does, but that's a RFE for upstream...

Thanks,

Sorry I assumed this was a fedora bug, I now see that evince doesn't yet use libarchive and a corresponding bug already exists:

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=720742

I'll follow it over there. Thank you.
