This (and other plasma-workspace errors) started occurring after several kf5-* components were updated to version 5.31.0-1.fc24 (on my system only kf5-* components where updated and all to 5.31.0 in the same offending update).

A subsequent update of other kf5-* components to 16.12.2 didn't appear to resolve the issue (I think they were just KDE PIM components). There are still 5.31.0 components installed.

As far as I can tell plasma-desktop was not updated during this time but I don't know how to identify which package actually triggered the fault. I also can't downgrade to previously working versions as they are not available.

As of Mon  6 Mar 10:10:00 UTC 2017 enabling updates-testing and applying those updates does not resolve the issue.

Thanks Rex, with plasma-desktop-5.8.6-2.fc24 and other pkgs from repo things got working
