cups 2.2.0-6 Fedora 25 is breaking all the the printer connections. systemd: Starting CUPS Scheduler... cupsd: cupsd: Cannot get a status of /etc/resolv.conf systemd: cups.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE systemd: Failed to start CUPS Scheduler. systemd: cups.service: Unit entered failed state. systemd: cups.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.
Thank you, Sammy. I will check it. For now please downgrade to 2.2.0-5 release from koji https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=832937 .
Sammy, when does error happen? Because I tried my build in my Fedora 25 and it works there - nameservers ip change and printing too. Would you mind installing these rpms https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=18760132 and running it again and posting its output like in comment #1 ? It should print more info about error in stat function from errno.
It happens during the restart of cups service on all my machines. The culprit is the last patch, removing it resolved the problem. I am now away from the office (today) but happened on my laptop as well.
I installed those rpms on my laptop and restart cups and did not see the old error messages, so perhaps they fixed it. Can test tomorrow on an actual printer.
2.2.0-7 is same as 2.2.0-6, it just prints different error message - with errno (I wanted to find out what happened, because my CUPS works fine).
Sammy, I think you encountered same issue as Jirka and Doug in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1437065 , but cups managed to start after boot.
Sounds like it. After reboot printers were not shown. I restarted cupsd with systemctl but that did not resolve it either. Tomorrow I am back in the office and can check.
Yes, after reboot cups is not starting with those error messages ( -6 version). If one manually starts cups.service then it finds my locally attached printer.
This very repeatable on Lenovo H50-55 with AMD A10 processor. The systems are fully up to date F25 64 bit installations. Any time I do a restart, CUPs is not running. The http://localhost:631/ service is not available and no printers show in the Printers application of the All Settings group. Also, when trying to print from an application such as one of the Libre Office app's only print to file is available. If I do "systemctl restart cups.service" everything seems to go back to normal and printers work again. My Lenovo Intel E8400 machines (fully up to date F25 64 bit installations) do not show this problem.
Sammy, pmkelly, as I wrote in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1437065 , patch is now temporarily removed in cups-2.2.0-7 version until I solved this issue.
