A bug in thread synchronization in Eclipse Webtools could previously cause a potential thread deadlock when faceted projects were in use. Consequently, if a user installed a plug-in that would programmatically create and install a custom facet, a deadlock sometimes occurred. This bug has been fixed, and such deadlocks no longer occur.

Neon.3 was planned to be the final Web Tools release, so escalation to WTP PMC will be required to get this fixed in upstream as a patch or maintenance release. If that doesn't work, we may have to patch this ourselves in Fedora/RHSCL and in JBoss Tools/Devstudio.
