Red Hat Product Errata RHBA-2017:1917 normal SHIPPED_LIVE qemu-guest-agent bug fix update 2017-08-01 14:26:34 EDT

  None (edit)
Description Miroslav Rezanina 2017-04-13 05:26:16 EDT
Currently, qemu-ga is build for all RHEL 7 architectures. However, we do not support build of qemu-kvm for some of them. Disable build of qemu-ga for architectures without qemu-kvm(-rhev) build.

In addition, keep s390x build as we are going to build qemu-kvm for this architecture.
Comment 2 Miroslav Rezanina 2017-05-16 09:17:27 EDT
We change decision to disable build of qemu-ga on 32bit architectures as it still can be usable. To be able to continue in building it we need to fix dependencies and remove all unnecessary staff.
Comment 3 Miroslav Rezanina 2017-05-19 06:50:10 EDT
Fix included in qemu-guest-agent-2.8.0-2.el7
Comment 5 FuXiangChun 2017-06-01 06:16:45 EDT
According to comment0. My understanding is that qemu-ga doesn't support qemu-kvm but it supports qemu-kvm-rhev. So,QE tested 2 scenarios.
1.Install qemu-guest-agent-2.8.0-2.el7.x86_64.rpm & qemu-kvm-1.5.3-139.el7.x86_64.

2.Install qemu-guest-agent-2.8.0-2.el7.x86_64.rpm & qemu-kvm-rhev-2.9.0-6.el7.x86_64.

Both scenarios work. If my understanding is wrong, please correct me. In addition, How should QE verify this bug?
Comment 6 Miroslav Rezanina 2017-06-01 06:21:04 EDT
Hi, qemu-ga is not dependent on qemu-kvm/qemu-kvm-rhev as it is running inside the guest. We expect to work it in guest running on host with either qemu-kvm or qemu-kvm-rhev.

For testing, installing in guest and basic regression testing should be sufficient to confirm the fix is correct.

Thanks for your information.

1.QE have tested a test run for qemu-ga.

2.QE have confirmed qemu-ga is not dependent on qemu-kvm/qemu-kvm-rhev. and it works well inside guest.

So,set this bug as verified.
