Wayland?

Can you run 'gparted' from a terminal and post the output?

Yes, on wayland.

The output when gparted was run from the terminal:

Comment 3 Mike Fleetwood 2017-05-27 07:18:38 UTC
This is documented as a known issue with Fedora 26:
  https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F26_bugs#wayland-root-apps

By design Wayland does not allow processes run as a different user to
display on the desktop. Therefore using "su" or "sudo" to display a
graphical application will not work.

Simple workaround is to run "xhost +SI:localuser:root" in a terminal
before running GParted.

This is also documented in the GParted forun here:
[SOLVED] How to run GParted on a GNOME on Wayland desktop
  http://gparted-forum.surf4.info/viewtopic.php?id=17446

This bug should be closed as a duplicate of bug 1397103.
(But I don't have permission to do that).

Thanks,
Mike Fleetwood (GParted Developer)
