Description of problem: If I do "dnf install /usr/bin/waf", the "waf" packages is installed and "waf" is executed via Python 2. It would be much better, if the Python 3 version is installed in this case. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): $ rpm -q waf-python3 waf-python3-1.9.10-1.fc27.noarch How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: "dnf install /usr/bin/waf" installs python 2 executable. Expected results: "dnf install /usr/bin/waf" installs python 3 executable. Additional info: I see two possible ways (but not sure if either of the is feasible): 1) Keep the things as they are, just add "Enhances: %{_bindir}/waf" into waf-python3. This in theory should give a hint to the resolver, that waf-python3 is preferred. I have never tried this, so I might be completely wrong, but if it works, it is probably the better choice. 2) Move the content of waf-python3 into waf package and provide waf-python2. This should be better long term. Actually, thinking about it, wouldn't be better to provide "waf", "waf-python2" and "waf-python3" packages, where the "waf" package would look like: ~~~ Provides: %{_bindir}/waf Requires: %{_bindir}/waf Suggests: waf-python3 ~~~ Again, this is just idea, not sure if this is possible.
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 27 development cycle. Changing version to '27'.
