Description Ken Dreyer (Red Hat) 2017-05-08 21:42:01 UTC
Description of problem:
The Red Hat Ceph Storage 2 container does not override labels from the RHEL 7 base image. In Red Hat's container catalog, the entry for rhceph displays some text about RHEL 7, not Ceph.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
rhceph-rhel7-docker-2.2-3

Steps to Reproduce:

METHOD 1:
1. Visit the rhceph-2-rhel7 image entry in the container catalog, https://access.redhat.com/containers/#/registry.access.redhat.com/rhceph/rhceph-2-rhel7
2. Read description of the image (note that it does not mention ceph)

METHOD 2:
docker pull registry.access.redhat.com/rhceph/rhceph-2-rhel7
docker inspect registry.access.redhat.com/rhceph/rhceph-2-rhel7:latest | jq .[].Config.Labels

Actual results:
The rhceph image's labels are just the generic RHEL 7 labels. The "docker inspect" output shows:

"summary": "Provides the latest release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 in a fully featured and supported base image."
"io.k8s.display-name": "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7"
  "io.openshift.tags": "base rhel7"

This is the description of RHEL 7, not RH Ceph Storage.

Expected results:

"docker inspect" shows Ceph product data, for example:

"summary": "Provides the latest Red Hat Ceph Storage 2 on RHEL 7 in a fully featured and supported base image."
"io.k8s.display-name": "Red Hat Ceph Storage 2 on RHEL 7"
  "io.openshift.tags": "rhceph ceph"
