Created attachment 1280435 [details] dmesg Description of problem: I get “iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: capa flags index 3 larger than supported by driver” visible on the screen during every single boot. Wi-Fi works fine, but the message confuses me a lot. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kernel-4.11.1-300.fc26.x86_64 linux-firmware-20170313-72.git695f2d6d.fc26.noarch iwl7260-firmware-25.30.13.0-72.fc26.noarch How reproducible: Always. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot Fedora. 2. 3. Actual results: “iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: capa flags index 3 larger than supported by driver” on the screen when booting. Expected results: No text on the screen when booting. Additional info: Intel Corporation Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 Plus Bluetooth (rev 99)
Same message on Asus ZenBook UX305 with 02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 7265 (rev 59)
Same message after today's F25 updates # dmidecode | grep Version | sed -n '2p' Version: ThinkPad T450 # dmidecode -s bios-version && dmidecode -s bios-release-date JBET51WW (1.16 ) 07/08/2015 # uname -r 4.11.3-200.fc25.x86_64 # lspci | grep 'Network controller' 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 7265 (rev 61)
Upgraded from 4.11.3-200 to 4.11.3-201.fc25.x86_64 Problem still exists.
Two questions: - is there somebody who works on this bug with no priority and no severity assigned ? - it seems since I have this message at boot I have random bluetooth connection problems with my mouse... Is there a link between this message and these problems ?
Same issue here, Dell Inspiron 7575, Fedora 25.
Fedeora 25 on Lenovo t450s here. Also with Intel 7265 wireless driver “iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: capa flags index 3 larger than supported by driver” on the screen when booting." same message. Wireless works. However, seemingly at random and not often, it hangs computer when attempting transition to suspend. Requires hard boot to recover. jg
Fedora 25 on Lenovo t460s: $ lspci | grep 'Network' 04:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 8260 (rev 3a) $ uname -r 4.11.5-200.fc25.x86_64 Same issues as indicated above. Randomly also will drop wifi connections for ~1 minute. Connection can be regained at will by restarting NetworkManager.
I get the same message on 'Fedora 25 on Asus ASUS ZENBOOK PRO UX501VW' with the latest kernel 4.11.6-201.fc25.x86_64. I don't mind so much about the message but it seems it prevents the laptop to shut down, which obviously is very annoying.
Same issue with a T450s Lenovo after my upgrade on Fedora 26. A solution?

Same issue on a Lenovo T460p 20FWCTO1WW The problem occurred when I rebooted the laptop in an attempt to solve the wireless problems I was experiencing: intermittently functional wireless and, when working, at a very slow speed. Interestingly, I downloaded the latest microcode file "iwlwifi-8000C-31.ucode" directly from the iwlwifi git repository, hoping substituting it for the existing "iwlwifi-8000C-27.ucode" would solve the problem. Judging by the output of dmesg after a reboot, I'm unsure whether the firmware file I manually installed has actually been picked up by the module but now wireless works again. This message has been demoted to a warning in kernel v4.14-rc1 See https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/5f5537ac3f0f7bd527d332aa166a009be833dfae
A warning ... but that does not explain the reason and how fix this warning.
The only way to get more information about that trouble would be to compile the kernel with more debug option around wireless modules.
I don’t see the message anymore after updating to F27 (kernel-core-4.13.2-300.fc27.x86_64).
Fedora 26 Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 2 14" with Intel AC 8260. For those with Fedora 25/26 AC 8260 problems (see below for my symptoms), the below steps fixed it for me (system details below): 1) downgrade firmware to iwlwifi-8000C-22.ucode: mv /lib/firmeware/iwlwifi-8000C-27.ucode{-,disabled} (For me, I was downgrading from iwlwifi-8000C-30.ucode; for some reason the installed iwlwifi-8000C-31.ucode is not used by the kernel) 2) adjust module parameters to disable bluetooth co-existence and re-enable 11n: cat >> /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf <<EOF options iwlwifi bt_coex_active=0 options iwlwifi 11n_disable=8 EOF I tried #2 the modprobe settings first so they are probably not be necessary, but they are recommended all over the internet so they are probably helpful; I found "modinfo iwlwifi" useful and settled on: modprobe -r iwlmvm iwlwifi ; modprobe iwlwifi power_save=0 bt_coex_active=0 11n_disable=8 ; modprobe iwlmvm power_scheme=0 The symptoms ============ Could not sustain significantly-fast downloads for any more than 10-30 seconds. Trying to run the tests at testmy.net or speedtest.net would result in wifi disconnects (perhaps the firmware was restarting?) 100% of the time after 5-20 seconds of transfer time. From my searching and the comments this is one of the few warnings that seems to be found by people with these driver problems, so I thought it would be useful to comment here. Any suggestions as to a better forum are welcome.
