Description Carl George 2017-05-24 18:15:05 UTC
RHEL 7.4 will add ansible to the extras channel [1]. Per policy, EPEL's ansible package should be retired [2] (once 7.4 is actually released).

Yes, I was aware. I was actually hoping the new RHEL maintainer(s) would file a bug, but oh well.

I will get it retired when 7.4 is out.

Done. It's been retired now.

ansible has been retired from EPEL7
It has been added to RHEL extras with RHEL 7.4

You can get it from RHEL extras, CentOS, or
http://releases.ansible.com/ansible/rpm/release/epel-7-x86_64/

Hey Kevin,

Sorry to resurrect an old bug, but I noticed ansible is back in EPEL7. After some digging, the only thing I can find regarding this is your comment in bodhi that ansible is going to be retired from RHEL Extras.

That's pretty interesting. Is any public info about this? Do you know when it is going to happen? I still see ansible-2.4.1.0-1.el7 in rhel-7-server-extras-rpms. I've got no issue with getting ansible from EPEL, I'm just nosy. :D

That is what I have been told. I don't have any further detailed information at this point. I'm ccing the ansible PM to see if he can provide any more info.
