I had a similar problem to Mikhail, but with a floating point exception rather than a segmentation fault. I got nothing from abrt (so no coredump), but the system journal has a stack trace similar to his: Stack trace of thread 1949: #0 0x00007f7bae066683 __env_failchk_int (libdb-5.3.so) #1 0x00007f7bae067228 __env_failchk_pp (libdb-5.3.so) #2 0x00007f7bb0f88c2f db3_dbiOpen (librpm.so.7) #3 0x00007f7bb0f8f59e pkgdbOpen (librpm.so.7) #4 0x00007f7bb0f8fe50 openDatabase (librpm.so.7) #5 0x00007f7bb0fba935 rpmtsOpenDB (librpm.so.7) #6 0x00007f7bb0fbabcc rpmtsInitIterator (librpm.so.7) #7 0x00007f7bb0fbae6b loadKeyring (librpm.so.7) #8 0x00007f7bb0fbabb5 rpmtsInitIterator (librpm.so.7) #9 0x00005606bdefab5d rpm_query_file (abrt-action-save-package-data) #10 0x00005606bdefb0c0 rpm_get_package_nvr (abrt-action-save-package-data) #11 0x00005606bdefa027 main (abrt-action-save-package-data) #12 0x00007f7bafa185fe __libc_start_main (libc.so.6) #13 0x00005606bdefa97a _start (abrt-action-save-package-data) This was triggered by dnf update with a rather large set of packages (433). Prior to the transaction, dnf-2.5.0-1.fc26.noarch.rpm was installed, which was upgraded by the transaction to dnf-2.5.0-2.fc26.noarch.rpm. The transaction didn't change libdnf-0.9.0-1.fc26.x86_64, libsolv-0.6.27-1.fc26.x86_64 or rpm-4.13.0.1-4.fc26.x86_64. As John has already noted, the fix is rpm --rebuilddb.
I think coredump file you can find here: # ls /var/lib/systemd/coredump/
Thanks Mikhail. You are right. Unfortunately, it is too big to upload and gdb seems to be struggling with mismatches in the symbols between the installed version and the version, which generated the coredump. I note that the upgrade transaction which crashed also upgraded things like libdb and sqlite-libs. So I haven't been able to get a proper trace out of it. Also, it seems to be tracing something different: #0 0x00007f4cf29cbf32 in __lock_get_internal () at /lib64/libdb-5.3.so #1 0x00007f4cf29cdd86 in __lock_vec () at /lib64/libdb-5.3.so #2 0x0000555d78f1f7b0 in () #3 0x000000000000001a in () #4 0x00007f4ce6440510 in () #5 0x0000555d000004a2 in () #6 0x0000000000000000 in ()
