Carlos, I've just checked on 4.2:

Create a VM with lease on an SD
Create a template from the VM
Create a new VM from the template
Click on "Edit VM" - the correct SD appaers

How did you test it?

I re-run it again and seems to work, maybe I got the version wrong in the previous comment.
