lshw-gui does not work unless you are logged in as root under a Wayland session.  This is because of the issue discussed in bug 1274451.  as a workaround you can do "xhost +SI:localuser:root ; lshw-gui ; xhost -SI:localuser:root"

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 27 development cycle.
Changing version to '27'.
