Description WenhanShi 2017-06-09 10:26:39 UTC
Description of problem:

The customer is using windows 7. They are facing a performance issue that it will cost almost 1 min when click "property" from right-click menu of an EC gluster volume.

- The gluster system and windows clients are joining a AD system, which has about 1400 user in it.
- The customer is trying to set the permission of AD users to gluster EC volumes.
- The delay will occurred when even showing the first tab, general tab.
- They tried from different client, all have the same issue.
    windows 7, 2008 r2, 2012 r2
- no file is under the EC volume, It's a new created one.
and the volume has about 48 bricks (will update when I get the sosreport)
- The delay issue will happened *sometime*. and when setup debug log level to 10, the delay issue will get worse, almost each time.

Yesterday when they tried the same operation, no such delay happened.
And the difference between today and yesterday is
  - the brick number of EC volume is from 8 to 48
  - Yesterday the gluster system has joined an AD environment for test,
and they joined a new AD system this morning, and this new AD system is the production environment from end user, has 1400 users.
  - they removed several 3-way replicated volumes and create some new EC volumes.

Hi

I am not seeing any delay with EC volume over right click and checking the properties of the shared mount in windows client.

Version
--------
glusterfs-3.8.4-18.el7rhgs.x86_64
samba-4.4.6-4.el7rhgs.x86_64

Volume config
-------------
Distributed-Disperse
Number of Bricks: 4 x (4 + 2) = 24

Client
-------
Windows 7
Windows 10
Windows 8.1
Windows 8

Data
-----
2GB of data is available in the volume share

Verdict
---------
I see absolutely no delay doing a right click and checking the properties.
