Created redmine issue http://projects.theforeman.org/issues/20176 from this bug

Comment 2 Marek Hulan 2017-06-30 13:25:05 UTC
There might be huge amount of groups in linked LDAP. Also this would block us from setting up a mapping before the group exists in LDAP. Would it be acceptable to verify that a user group exists e.g. by showing green check mark after user finished typing in case we were able to find the group? And just display a warning if we were unable to find the group.

Comment 3 Peter Gervase 2017-07-03 12:42:39 UTC
How about something like choosing the component for a new bug. Go to

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=Red%20Hat%20Satellite%206

and type in "sa" for the component. Give it a moment and you'll see the possible options with "sa" in the name. That would limit what gets displayed unless the user does the Ctrl + Shift + A to list all options.

If something like that were implemented in satellite, that would help the satellite admin if they didn't know what their valid options to choose from were. The goal is to make this easier on the satellite admin who might not be too familiar with the authentication possibilities.

Comment 4 Bryan Kearney 2019-02-07 12:09:22 UTC
The Satellite Team is attempting to provide an accurate backlog of bugzilla requests which we feel will be resolved in the next few releases. We do not believe this bugzilla will meet that criteria, and have plans to close it out in 1 month. This is not a reflection on the validity of the request, but a reflection of the many priorities for the product. If you have any concerns about this, feel free to contact Red Hat Technical Support or your account team. If we do not hear from you, we will close this bug out. Thank you.

Comment 5 Bryan Kearney 2019-02-28 19:35:01 UTC
Thank you for your interest in Satellite 6. We have evaluated this request, and while we recognize that it is a valid request, we do not expect this to be implemented in the product in the foreseeable future. This is due to other priorities for the product, and not a reflection on the request itself. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this, please do not reopen. Instead, feel free to contact Red Hat Technical Support. Thank you.
