Description of problem:
When I go to Edit Master, Libreoffice Impress gives an empty error and crashes.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Build ID: 18.104.22.168-3.fc26
CPU Threads: 8; OS Version: Linux 4.11; UI Render: default; VCL: gtk3; Layout Engine: new;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create new / Open existing presentation.
2. Go to the "Master Pages" section.
3. Right-click on a master slide and select "Edit Master..."
Empty box, showing title "LibreOffice 5.3 - Fatal Error", and program crashes.
Master edit page shown.
By erasing the config directory (~/.config/libreoffice in my case) the error disappeared and the application works properly.

Do you still have a copy of your problematic ~/.config/libreoffice that you could share?
Nope. I deleted it. Sorry. You can close this if you want.
I encountered the same problem, and as indicated by the issue opener, removing the ~/.config/libreoffice directory solves the problem.
I have created a backup of it and can provide it.
oh certainly, if you have a config backup that can be used to reproduce this then attach it here, or send it to me directly referencing this bug
