Description Pascal Ernster 2017-07-22 00:49:09 EDT
The documentation about dnf-automatic does not specify whether dnf-automatic-install.timer does only install updates that are already in the cache, or wheter it also tries to download new updates.

With the current documentation, it is not clear whether dnf-automatic-install.timer is sufficient on its own, or if dnf-automatic-download.timer is required as well to make dnf-auto work as expected.

The same question also applies to notifications and the necessity of enabling dnf-automatic-notifyonly.timer when dnf-automatic-download.timer or dnf-automatic-install.timer is enabled.

This should be documented both in the online documentation (https://dnf.readthedocs.io/en/latest/automatic.html) and in /etc/dnf/automatic.conf.

Does bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1489595 address this for you? (The GitHub change set is here: https://github.com/rpm-software-management/dnf/pull/919/files. The changes have already been pushed to stable for Fedora 26.)
