Then log in with user which is in group mock. 2. mock --scrub=all 3. mock --init Actual results: Error message "failed calculating RPMDB checksum" Expected results: chroot is created, no error.

I can reproduce this issue here on my Fedora 26 boxes. Any hints on how to work around this?
Looking at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1299482 setting --noplugins in /etc/mock/site-default.cfg seems to work so far.
