Description Jaspreet Kaur 2017-07-25 12:13:46 UTC
Description of problem: We need to document backup and restore procedure for CNS

currently tried :

- backup everything found under
    - /var/lib/glusterd
    - /var/log/glusterfs
    - /etc/glusterfs

In case of a disaster restore the steps taken are as follows:
1. Detach gluster related data disks (e.g. /dev/xvdc)
2. Delete the old OpenShift cluster (remove VMs)
3. Create a new cluster with the old hosts inventory (so every config is the same, IPs and such)
4. Attach the gluster related data disks on the same mountpoint ( /dev/xvdc)
5. Restore configuration
5.1 complete etcd restore
5.2 master config restore
5.3 certificates restore

Similar to what we have in Openshift but this doesnt work for CNS.

Can someone clarify the request?

Is the request how to restore CNS configuration ? or
the request how to restore the Persistent Volumes

Request is complete gluster/cns to be restored in another cluster. It is not simply about configurations but also the data on the gluster pods and backend disks
