Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Alexander Braverman 2017-07-26 10:08:13 UTC
Description of problem:
Non-admin users with permission to 'edit_products' in their organization can't see 'create repository' in some products. But they can create a repo by directly browsing to 'https://satellite.redhat.com/products//repositories/new'.

ehelms: "if a repo is in a content view, you cannot delete the product, we seem to be translating that into you cannot 'edit' the product which in turn means you can't create new repositories"

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create content view and add a repo from product X, publish it
2. As non-admin user, go to the product X repositories

Actual results:
No 'create repository' button

Expected results:
'create repository' button

With Satellite 6.2.12, it is possible to create a new repository as a non-admin user with the permissions below. Does this address the issue?

Organization, view_organizations
Product and Repositories, view_products, create_products, edit_products

Comment 3 Alexander Braverman 2017-10-15 08:56:58 UTC
Product and Repositories permission make sense but how is "view_organizations" related to product management?

Comment 4 Brad Buckingham 2018-03-19 19:49:09 UTC
Alexander,

Apologies, I missed comment 3. Feel free to needinfo me in the future.

Products and repositories are scoped to organization; therefore, the view_permission is currently required. In the near-term, I do not see that changing.

Based on that, any objection to closing this bugzilla?

Comment 8 Brad Buckingham 2018-04-03 10:39:16 UTC
Thanks Alexander for the input.

For now, we are going to close this bugzilla as 'notabug' based upon comment 2; however, the following bugzillas should help to improve on the user experience when available:

- bug 1455128 - [RFE]: Predefined role for managing products and repositories
- bug 1255699 - [RFE] add help text to each permission
