Description of problem: There is not any appdata.xml/metainfo.xml file available in the lshw gui package. Because of this, lshw gui cannot be found and/or installed using the GNOME Software application or another package manager UI based on AppStream. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open GNOME Software. 2. Type "lshw".

It looks like that lshw is still missing in GNOME Software on my Fedora 26 system.
I think the problem is that the desktop file is named as lshw.desktop, not gtk-lshw.desktop as stated in the appdata file.
Also, I see that the icon have a different name than the desktop file, but I am not sure if this is a problem.
Or, more likely, the icon file path is a problem; I think that the svg icons should be in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/, not in /usr/share/pixmaps/. See the Automated Tests in: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2017-56aabeab27

Still not fixed!
It worked for me in GNOME Software in Fedora 27. Does that work for you?
I did not test it in F27 yet, only in F26 where it still does not work. I will test it in F27 and let you know.
I can confirm that it is fixed in F27!
Great! Package is identical in all branches, might be metadata for AppStream must be in proper release and can't be added (or modified) via updates?
I think they can be modified via updates, but I am not sure.
Adding GNOME Software maintainer to confirm issue.
f26 probably needs an update of appstream-data, I can ask somebody to do it this week.
appstream-data refreshed for fedora 26?
ping? metadata has been updated now?
This message is a reminder that Fedora 26 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 26. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '26'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 26 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Works in current releases.
