Description AsciiWolf 2017-07-29 16:41:05 UTC
Description of problem:

There is not any appdata.xml/metainfo.xml file available in the CuteCom package. Because of this, CuteCom cannot be found and/or installed using the GNOME Software application or another package manager UI based on AppStream.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open GNOME Software.
2. Type "cutecom".

Comment 10 Daniel Rusek 2020-08-09 13:08:26 UTC
I have tested the provided F32 update and found two major issues:

1. Cutecom seems to have missing icon (no icon files).
2. Because the app id in appdata file is different than the actual desktop file name, there should be something like "<launchable type="desktop-id">cutecom.desktop</launchable>" in the appdata file. Without this line added, Cutecom will most likely still be missing in GNOME Software.

Comment 11 Rich Mattes 2020-08-09 13:48:31 UTC
Thanks for the feedback. I will add the launchable tag to the appdata file to work around the desktop file/appdata file mismatch.

The application itself doesn't ship an icon, and while the desktop file is specified as "cutecom", it had been previously modified to use the "utilities-terminal" icon (which I also can't seem to find anymore.) Is it possible to specify a generic icon from an icon theme, or does the cutecom package need to provide its own icon file for the appdata to work?

Comment 12 Rich Mattes 2020-08-09 13:52:41 UTC
Scratch that second part - there is a cutecom.svg shipped in the images/ subfolder. I will install that in the spec file.
