Description Ian Collier 2017-08-04 07:49:33 EDT
I'm logged in on the console with a FVWM session. I start vncserver.
My xstartup file says:

Now if I connect to this VNC (doesn't matter if from this desktop or from
another machine entirely) and press the GNOME logout button, then when
I get back to my desk I find that my whole console session has been logged out.
This also sometimes (but not always) happens if I kill the gnome-session
process manually, and even if gnome-session did not start up properly.
[gnome-session does not seem to work inside the VNC if my console session is
GNOME or MATE or LXDE but does if it's FVWM, but that's another matter.]

If I started the VNC server while remotely logged in with ssh, then
logging out of the VNC GNOME session does not kill my console session.

This might be a case of "don't do that, then" but it was very annoying
when I discovered it by accident...

Currently installed version: gnome-session-3.24.1-2.fc26.x86_64
