Description of problem: Old repoquery from yum-utils has --changelog option which is quite handy for looking at the package changelog before installing. dnf repoquery is missing that functionality. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): dnf-2.6.3-1.fc26.noarch How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: $ dnf repoquery --changelog <package> Actual results: dnf repoquery: error: unrecognized arguments: --changelog Expected results: dnf would display changelog of the selected package(s)
This message is a reminder that Fedora 26 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 26. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '26'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 26 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
This bug is still present on Fedora 28. # rpm -q dnf dnf-2.7.5-8.fc28.noarch
Why is this functionality *still* not available in dnf? It really sucks having to go to Koji and track down the build status just to see what the change in a package is (and most users won't know how to do that). And no, 'just install it and "rpm -q --changelog"' doesn't cut it either, when you're doing the query to see if a problem has been fixed. Having to re-backlevel a dozen RPM packages because the issue isn't fixed is no fun at all. (In fact, that's the scenario right this instant - I'm running a backleveled 'dnf' because of bug 1596540, and I can't do a 'repoquery changelog dnf' to see if that bug has been fixed. And if I update and it's still busted, I have to re-backlevel dnf and about a dozen pre-requisite RPMs)
