Description Nick Levinson 2017-09-03 00:55:28 UTC
Document URLs: <https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/26/html/Installation_Guide/sect-boot-options-rescue.html> and <https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/26/html/System_Administrators_Guide/sec-Terminal_Menu_Editing_During_Boot.html#sec-Booting_to_Rescue_Mode>, both as accessed Aug. 12, 2017.

Describe the issue: Booting into rescue mode is described as being done from media other than the hard drive. However, Fedora 26 installs the rescue kernel onto the hard drive and doesn't mention during installation that the user should move it to other media before a rescue is needed. So, either the rescue kernel is usable from the hard drive (and I used it once for a test, with no visible difference in outcome) or we should move it.

Suggestions for improvement: Either way, the documentation should be clarified or updated for whichever possibility is applicable. If we should move the kernel, please tell us what we should move and how to organize relevant files on the alternative media.

I'm closing this bug as part of a Bugzilla cleanup effort. The most likely reason is that the bug has been opened either against a component we no longer publish, or against Release Notes for an EOL release.
