SecurityType1_and_SecurityType2_Comparison

Description of problem:
With VMware WebMKS Console, for some of the Virtual Machines, console is not displayed. Further investigation displays a message as "vnc authentication not implemented" in the Browser's Console. This occurs when "Server security types: 2" and does NOT occur when "Server security types: 1"

PLEASE SEE SCREENSHOT FOR MORE INFO.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
5.8.2.0

How reproducible:
Believe 100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Login to CFME appliance, add a VMware Provider that supports WebMKS Remote Console
2. Navigate to Administrator|EVM(Top Right corner) -> Configuration -> VMware Console Suppport, set it to VMware WebMKS
3.Navigate to Compute -> Infrastructure -> Virtual Machine, click on any running virtual machine.
4.Click Access-> VM Console.
5. Run the above steps with multiple VMs, and look at Console logs.

Actual results:
When a VM wouldn't show you the console, it is likely due to its "Security Type" being 2 instead of 1 as shown in the Attached Picture.

Expected results:
WebMKS based VM console should connect.

Comment 2 Kedar Kulkarni 2017-09-11 19:30:45 EDT
Please note the image attached with this bug has Browser Console logs of 2 different browser tabs for 2 different VMs.

The one on the top shows logs for the VM for which the Remote Console didn't work due to error.

The one on the bottom is shows logs for the VM for which the Remote Console that works fine.

We might want to mention that there are some limitations around all of this in documentation.
Comment 5 Andrew Dahms 2018-02-26 19:59:09 EST
Adding a known issue for the Release Notes until this content can be added to the product documentation itself.
Comment 6 Andrew Dahms 2018-03-04 18:19:04 EST
Assigning to Suyog for review.

Suyog - the note here, or a variation thereof, should be added to the content we create first in BZ#1535011 to address the new console options in general. That should be enough to close this one out.
