Description Andreas Karis 2017-09-19 17:40:16 UTC
Description of problem:
Hi,

Custom block storage backend configuration contains several bugs for OSP 8

Note that the documentation contains a bug:

 This is incorrect:
~~~
      CinderRestartConfig:
        type: OS::Heat::SoftwareConfig
        properties:
          config: |
(...)
~~~

Is missing: "group: script"
    should be:
~~~
      CinderRestartConfig:
        type: OS::Heat::SoftwareConfig
        properties:
          group: script
          config: |
(...)
~~~

This is the minimum to fix the doc. Now, these changes will only be applied once, we need to add a DeployIdentifier to make this work all of the time.

Please refer to the following to see how the DeployIdentifier needs to be used:

parameters:
  servers:

  # trigger the deployment to run even though it and the config are
  # otherwise unchanged

A new guide to Deploying a Custom Block Storage Back End in a Red Hat OpenStack Platform Overcloud was delivered in OSP 10:
