I forgot to mention that the image that I tried to boot was Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-27_Beta-1.5.iso .

We apologize for the inconvenience. There is a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. As kernel maintainers, we try to keep up with bugzilla but due the rate at which the upstream kernel project moves, bugs may be fixed without any indication to us. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 27 kernel bugs.

Fedora 27 has now been rebased to 4.15.3-300.f27. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel.

If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those.

Excuse my ignorance, but where can I find a live image with the latest kernel? I thought live images were only released together with the official releases?

Comment 4 Dov Grobgeld 2018-02-21 08:16:01 UTC
I just tested with Fedora Rawhide Live with the latest version that I downloaded yesterday, Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-Rawhide-20180220.n.0.iso . The problem persists. The system hangs immediately after the grub prompt. I tested booting from the same media on another computer, and it booted without any problem.

Comment 5 Dov Grobgeld 2018-03-07 19:10:28 UTC
I again tested the latest net install Rawhide Live. The resulting behavior was the same as last time. After choosing any of the grub options, the system gets infinitely stuck with an underline character in the upper left corner. I also tried to remove the "quiet" kernel parameter, but it made no difference. There is no visible output from the booting process.

I tested it again today with the latest rawhide netinstaller image. Same result as described above.

I've got the exact same problem. Tried the workstation and rawhide "everything boot" flavor Fedora-Rawhide-20180402.n.0

Tested with the released Fedora 28. Still doesn't work. :-(

If you have moved on to Fedora 28, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 28.

If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those.

Comment 10 Dov Grobgeld 2018-09-24 20:04:20 UTC
I just tested with the latest boot media Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-29-20180923.n.0.iso and it completely boot on the laptop/tablet and is able to make a complete installation on the system.

Closing the bug.
