Description Daniel Mach 2017-09-29 11:25:35 UTC
$ man yum2dnf

DNF REMOVE KERNEL DELETES ALL PACKAGES CALLED KERNEL
       In Yum, the running kernel is spared. There is no reason to keep this in DNF, the user can always specify concrete versions on the command line, e.g.:

          dnf remove kernel-3.9.4

We need to re-evaulate this behavior or explain details why kernel is not protected.

We don't want users to remove kernel by accident.
We also want flexibility for containers and chroots where kernel is not required.

There is no problem, only confusing documentation. Yum itself never protect a kernel like dnf. Only if in /etc/yum/protected.d/kernel was string "kernel".
dnf really works like yum (tested).

I create a patch that removes incorrect information.
