All the related PRs from backend that I have been associated with are merged:

Add a relationship between generic objects and services
https://github.com/ManageIQ/manageiq/pull/15490

Limit Generic Object associations to the same list of objects available to reporting
https://github.com/ManageIQ/manageiq/pull/15735

Add custom buttons to generic object
https://github.com/ManageIQ/manageiq/pull/15980

Comment 6 Martin Kourim 2017-12-21 15:55:04 UTC
Verified on 5.9.0.14 that
* custom buttons are displayed for generic objects in the service controller
* generic objects can be added to services using the "add_resource" API action
* generic objects associations is the same list of objects available to reporting
